SYS Supervisor Statement: Last Ditch Attempt on the Leased Truck:

Dec 12, 2025 | News & Updates

Dear Residents:

This has been a saga.  The goal is to move the truck while maximizing savings on your tax money.

The former Council decided in May to begin the process of getting rid of the truck.  Ads were placed and private sales and lease exchange websites were explored.

Since October 27th, the attempts to get rid of the truck have included:

  • Two mentions of efforts to transfer the lease in my statements to you which resulted in two people in the community expressing interest that led no where
  • Calls to three people whose names had been provided to the office by a resident also to no avail
  • An email sent to every one of the 79 municipalities in NB advertising the truck which led to two municipalities expressing initial strong interest, then backing out after two weeks of back and forth
  • Multiple contacts with Fox Cadillac on options
  • Contact with Steele GMC on options
  • Serious discussions with a resident on the purchase of the truck which fell through at the very last minute

The only achievable options with savings on the lease payments is for someone to purchase the truck.  No other achievable options result in savings.

This is an attempt to see if someone in the community is interested in buying it.

Here is the information:

  • 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, Crew Cab, 4-wheel drive with the Custom Trim Package
  • Approximately 1780 kilometers on it
  • On Monday December 15, the truck:
    • will undergo a bumper-to-bumper inspection to see if any repairs are needed. None are expected
    • will get the MVI inspection done and that will be good to December 2027
    • will received an oil change
  • The gas tank is full
  • The regular warranty expires on August 30, 2027
  • The power train warranty expires on August 30, 2027
  • It had the registration renewed in September 2025 and is good until September 2026
  • The dealer wants a non-negotiable $58,559.00 plus tax for a total of $67,342.85 for the truck
  • SYS is prepared to cover a portion of the purchase, say, to cover the tax amount as an example or to consider a reasonable offer
  • The buyer and I as Supervisor would need to meet at Steele GMC on Hanwell Road, each of us with a cheque for our portion of the purchase, and the Dealer would make the paper transfer from SYSRC to the buyer

If any of you are interested or know someone who is, please contact me at the office.  I will be on my email throughout the Holidays, but I will be out of town so any physical transfer will have to occur either before December 20th or after January 4th

I am trying to get you the best deal possible.

Dob Ferguson
Supervisor SYSRC
