Dear Residents of SYSRC:
Earlier this month, we posted the annual report on the community’s website. A resident correctly pointed out a few inconsistencies that needed to be addressed and below are the questions/issues raised and my clarifications.
The main points raised and answered:
- Question/issue:
- Statement from the chair of one of the committees who reported on events that had occurred outside the year in question
Response:
- The question about the chair of one of the committee is being corrected in an updated report
- Question/issue:
- Missing information on the council remuneration and expenses
Response:
- The information on the council remuneration and expenses are in fact in the original report
- Question/issue:
- No mention of the land and LED signs as capital expenditure
Response:
- The fact that the Land and LED purchases were not mentioned was an inadvertent mistake. The draft report was prepared over the summer but could not be finalized until the financial audited statements were finalized in October. There was no desire to mislead and in fact the financial statement shined a light on those expenses. The lag between the first draft and the financials explains the discrepancy.
- Question/issue:
- Why was the report only on the website and not Facebook, with no mention of it on Facebook
Response:
- The report was not put on Facebook because documents like these are difficult to load and it is easier on the web site. Having said that, a notice about the report being on the web site should have been placed on Facebook.
- Question/issue:
- Who approved the report as someone should be held accountable
Response:
- As for who is accountable for the errors, I am.
- That is why I am reporting on the questions and advising you that we have corrected the report, and it is being re-posted on the Website.
There is a lot going on at this time and I can assure you that the mistakes were inadvertent. I am focused on doing everything I can to influence an optimistic and promising future for your community
